Description

A soul-soothing dish of caramelized sweet potatoes in a rich syrup, perfect for festive occasions.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  3. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Add the brown sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt to the melted butter.
  5. Stir to meld the ingredients into a luscious syrup.
  6. Carefully add the sweet potato rounds to the saucepan, stirring gently to coat.
  7. Transfer the sweet potatoes and syrup to a baking dish.
  8. Bake for about 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
