Description

A comforting cauliflower au gratin dish with creamy cheese sauce, crunchy breadcrumbs, and a hint of garlic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Gruyère)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil cauliflower florets in salted water for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then add the flour, stirring for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk and bring to a simmer, thickening the mixture while stirring often.
  5. Add cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and stir until melted and smooth.
  6. Combine the cauliflower with the cheese sauce, coating all florets.
  7. Transfer to a greased baking dish, sprinkle with panko breadcrumbs, and drizzle with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

Feel free to customize the cheese or add sautéed vegetables for extra flavor.
