- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup chocolate chunks
- 1 cup M&M’s (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Whisk together the flour and baking soda in a small bowl.
- Cream the softened butter, sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth in a large bowl.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well combined.
- Mix in the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, and M&M’s, if using.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Let them cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
Chill the dough in the refrigerator to deepen flavors or keep cookies chewier. Experiment with mix-ins such as nuts or dried fruit.
