Description

Warm, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside slices of bread coated with cinnamon-sugar, reminiscent of churros, making for a delightful breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche or challah)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Powdered sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs into a bowl and combine with milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Coat each slice of bread in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  3. Melt half of the butter in a skillet over medium heat until bubbling.
  4. Cook the soaked bread for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  6. Coat the cooked slices in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the egg mixture the night before. Use stale bread for better absorption. Customize with toppings like fresh fruit or chocolate sauce.
