Description

A heartwarming dish that combines creamy textures and savory flavors with pierogi and turkey sausage, all cooked in one skillet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces frozen pierogi (cheese or potato-filled)
  • 12 ounces sliced turkey sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups fresh spinach (or kale)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • Salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (or chives), for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil (or butter) over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and sliced turkey sausage to the skillet. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, until the sausage browns slightly.
  3. Stir in the fresh spinach (or kale) and allow it to wilt for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream and sour cream, stirring to combine.
  5. Gently add the frozen pierogi, ensuring they are coated with the sauce. Cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes, until the pierogi are heated through.
  6. Stir in the dried dill and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top and stir until melted.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and serve immediately.

Notes

Thaw frozen pierogi overnight for quicker cooking. You can prepare the dish in advance and reheat before serving.
