Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Colorful candy buttons (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients into the creamy mixture until a soft dough forms.
  6. Portion the dough using a tablespoon-sized scoop, rolling each portion into a ball.
  7. Decorate with candy buttons by pressing them into the center of each cookie.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers remain soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
