Description
Delightfully crispy poppers filled with shredded chicken, sharp cheddar, and spicy jalapeños, served with a smooth creamy dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups shredded chicken
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 packet ranch seasoning
- 2 jalapeños, finely diced
- 1 cup cooked breadcrumbs or panko
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix your shredded chicken, sharp cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning, and finely diced jalapeños until thoroughly combined.
- Form the poppers: Take a handful of the chicken mixture and shape it into bite-sized balls, ensuring they are packed tightly together.
- Prepare for frying: Dip each ball first into the milk, allowing the excess to drip off, and then roll them in cooked breadcrumbs or panko for that delightful crunch.
- Heat oil: In a frying pan, add enough oil to cover the bottom and heat it over medium heat until shimmering.
- Fry the poppers: Carefully place the poppers into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid crowding. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Prepare the creamy dip: While the poppers cool, whip together cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, milk, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Serve & enjoy: Present your hot poppers on a platter alongside the creamy dip, garnished with chopped fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
These poppers can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge before frying. For a healthier option, consider baking or air frying the poppers instead.
