Description

Deliciously soft donuts filled with creamy cheesecake and bursting with strawberry flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and remaining sugar. Gradually add the foamy yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it into a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled (1 to 1.5 hours).
  4. Shape and fry: Roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to shape and rest for another 20-30 minutes. Fry in heated oil for 1.5-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Make the filling: Beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in the strawberry jam.
  6. Prepare the glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Assemble and glaze: Inject the filling into the donuts, dip or drizzle the glaze on top. Allow glaze to set before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider baking instead of frying. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for 1 month.
