A delightful dessert that combines three types of milk for a moist and creamy experience, known as Tres Leches in Latin America.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the milk mixture)
- Whipped cream (for topping)
- Fresh fruit or cinnamon (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar blend, mixing well.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool.
- Combine the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and additional vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Poke holes in the cooled cake with a fork, then slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours, preferably overnight.
- Top with whipped cream and garnish with fresh fruit or a dusting of cinnamon before serving.
Notes
This dessert is best made a day in advance for optimal flavor. Customize with coconut milk or coffee for added depth.
