Description
Create a delicious loaf of Aromatic Rosemary Sourdough Bread with a crispy crust and soft, airy inside, perfect for pairing with soups, salads, or enjoyed with butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar until well combined.
- Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in the chopped rosemary and olive oil.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the dough gently to release some of the trapped gas and shape it into a round loaf.
- Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Score the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, try substituting dried rosemary or adding garlic. Allow dough to rise overnight for better flavor development.
