Description

Delight in this indulgent baked pecan French toast made with rich brioche, creamy custard, and topped with crunchy toasted pecans.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche or challah
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into thick slices and arrange in the baking dish.
  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread slices, ensuring all are soaked.
  5. Combine chopped pecans with melted butter and sprinkle over the bread.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours or overnight.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and custard is set.
  8. Serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

For best flavor, soak overnight. Customize with chocolate chips or different nuts.
