Description
Indulge in warm, tender banana slices caramelized to perfection, coated in a luscious layer of caramel that enhances their natural sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 4 over-ripe bananas (thickly sliced (½ inch))
- 1/2 cup salted sweet cream butter (sliced into pats)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Vanilla ice cream (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sugared Bananas: Sprinkle the packed brown sugar evenly in a shallow baking dish. Roll the thickly sliced bananas in the brown sugar until they’re completely coated.
- Heat the Butter: In a 10-inch skillet, heat the sliced butter over medium-high heat. Allow it to melt completely, then pour in the vanilla extract and sprinkle the ground nutmeg.
- Cook the Bananas: Gently add the coated banana slices to the skillet in a single layer. Allow them to cook undisturbed for about 3 to 3½ minutes, then flip and continue cooking for another 2½ to 3 minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove the skillet from heat and serve the warm bananas over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a quicker version, consider using an air fryer at 350°F for about 8 minutes. You can also customize by adding dark rum or toasted nuts.
