A comforting and flavorful lasagna layered with ground beef, creamy cheeses, and rich tomato sauce.

- Lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat with chopped onion and minced garlic until browned and fragrant. Drain excess fat.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Begin assembling in a baking dish: spread a layer of meat sauce, then noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella.
- Repeat layers, finishing with noodles and a final layer of meat sauce topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Make ahead by assembling a day in advance and refrigerate. Can be made vegetarian by substituting ground beef with lentils or vegetables.
