Description

A moist and tender chocolate cake that melts in your mouth, perfect for celebrations or a sweet indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Incorporate the boiling water carefully into the batter; it will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  7. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  8. Frost with chocolate frosting once cooled.

Notes

For a healthier twist, you can reduce the sugar or use whole wheat flour. Add chocolate chips or coffee for extra depth of flavor.
