- 1/2 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley for garnish
- Creamy mashed potatoes for serving
- Steamed green beans or your favorite vegetables as sides
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4–6 portions and shape each into an oval patty.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
- Melt the butter in the same skillet. Add sliced mushrooms and thinly sliced onion. Cook for 5–7 minutes until softened.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and onions. Stir and cook for an additional minute.
- Whisk in the beef broth slowly, scraping up any browned bits. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Return the Salisbury steak patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Cover and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot over creamy mashed potatoes.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the patties in advance and refrigerate for up to 24 hours, or freeze them for later use.
