Description

Delicious crispy ham and cheese stacks encased in flaky puff pastry, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 slices ham (Black Forest, prosciutto, or honey-glazed)
  • 8 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, Gruyère, or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 2 eggs (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly dust your surface with flour and roll out the puff pastry to about 10-12 inches square.
  3. Lay your first sheet of pastry on the baking sheet and layer the ham and cheese evenly over it. Optionally, spread Dijon mustard.
  4. Place the second pastry sheet on top, pressing the edges to seal. Crimp the edges with a fork.
  5. Brush the surface generously with the beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Cool for 5 minutes, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Make-ahead: Prepare the stacks a few hours in advance and bake before serving. For air frying, cook at 375°F for about 10-15 minutes.
