Description

A delicious homemade apple butter recipe made in a crockpot, perfect for autumn days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 cup of sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of allspice
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Start by peeling, coring, and chopping your apples into small chunks.
  2. Add ingredients to the crockpot: Place the chopped apples into your crockpot, followed by the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and lemon juice.
  3. Mix it up: Stir the ingredients gently to combine all the flavors.
  4. Set and forget: Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  5. Blend away: After the cooking time is up, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
  6. Store and enjoy: Pour the apple butter into sterilized jars and cool before storing.

Notes

Letting the apple butter cool in the jars enhances its flavor. Remember, you can substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup.
