Ingredients

- 2 cups dried navy beans
- 6 cups water
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices bacon, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse and soak the navy beans overnight in water. Drain and set aside.
- Combine the soaked beans, diced onion, molasses, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and bacon (if using) in a crockpot.
- Add 6 cups of water and gently stir to blend the ingredients.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed before serving warm.
Notes
Soaking overnight ensures even cooking. Customize flavors with hot sauce or smoked paprika for a vegetarian version.
