Description

A delightful and flaky sourdough loaf that combines the rustic charm of sourdough with the delicate texture of a croissant.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 300g active sourdough starter
  • 10g salt
  • 250ml lukewarm water
  • 50g unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Optional: additional flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine 500g flour, 300g sourdough starter, 10g salt, 250ml lukewarm water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 50g softened butter in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Dust your work surface with flour and knead the dough for about 10 minutes.
  3. Grease a bowl, place the dough inside, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 2 hours.
  4. Punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf.
  5. Lay the loaf on a lined baking sheet, cover, and let it rise for an additional hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Cool the loaf on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For best results, prepare the dough the night before and bake fresh in the morning. You can also customize the recipe with herbs or cheeses.
