- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
- If desired, divide the dough into portions and mix in food coloring.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into Easter shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle with sprinkles if using.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
You can make the dough a day in advance and refrigerate it. Don’t overmix the dough to keep the cookies tender.
