Description

Delicious meatballs made with ground beef, rice, and a savory tomato sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, uncooked long-grain rice, finely chopped onion, egg, milk, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly with your hands or a sturdy spoon until well blended.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter and place them on a plate.
  3. Heat the tomato sauce and water in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring well until it simmers.
  4. Carefully place the meatballs into the simmering sauce, ensuring they are spaced apart.
  5. Cover the skillet and let them simmer for 30 to 40 minutes, gently turning the meatballs halfway through until cooked through.
  6. Serve the meatballs hot, ladling the enriched sauce generously over them.

Notes

For a healthier option, swap beef for ground turkey or chicken. For gluten-free, substitute rice with quinoa.
