Ingredients

- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Combine the sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and egg yolks in a medium saucepan.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat while continuously stirring.
- Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble gently.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans.
- Allow to cool for about 30 minutes before spreading over the cake.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can also prepare this frosting a day in advance for intensified flavor.
