Description

A warm, golden puff pastry filled with creamy cheddar cheese and savory ham, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 puff pastry sheets
  • 3/4 pound ham cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg and 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Defrost the puff pastry: Leave the sheets out to thaw for about 30 minutes or until pliable but still cold.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Roll out the puff pastry: Place one sheet onto a greased baking sheet and spread it gently with a rolling pin.
  4. Layer the filling: Scatter ham cubes and sprinkle cheddar cheese over the pastry, leaving about one inch along the edges.
  5. Prepare the egg wash in a small bowl by whisking together the egg and water.
  6. Brush the edges with the egg wash to create a seal.
  7. Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry, pressing down and crimping the edges with a fork.
  8. Vent the pastry by cutting slits into the top to allow steam to escape.
  9. Brush the top of the pastry with the remaining egg wash.
  10. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool slightly before slicing into eight pieces.

Notes

This dish can be prepared ahead of time, and you can use different types of cheese for variations.
