Ingredients
Scale
- 2 puff pastry sheets
- 3/4 pound ham cut into small cubes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg and 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Defrost the puff pastry: Leave the sheets out to thaw for about 30 minutes or until pliable but still cold.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry: Place one sheet onto a greased baking sheet and spread it gently with a rolling pin.
- Layer the filling: Scatter ham cubes and sprinkle cheddar cheese over the pastry, leaving about one inch along the edges.
- Prepare the egg wash in a small bowl by whisking together the egg and water.
- Brush the edges with the egg wash to create a seal.
- Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry, pressing down and crimping the edges with a fork.
- Vent the pastry by cutting slits into the top to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top of the pastry with the remaining egg wash.
- Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing into eight pieces.
