- 1 cup bourbon
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the bourbon, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to blend all the goodness together.
- Bring to a Simmer: As the mixture heats, allow it to come to a gentle simmer.
- Season It Up: Once simmering, add the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to distribute all the spices.
- Simmer & Thicken: Let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cool Down: After simmering, remove the pan from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- Store: Transfer the sauce into a clean jar and refrigerate.
Notes
This sauce improves with time; consider making it a day ahead. It can also be used as a marinade for meats.
