Description

A rich and flavorful homemade bourbon BBQ sauce perfect for enhancing grilled meats and vegetables.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the bourbon, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to blend all the goodness together.
  2. Bring to a Simmer: As the mixture heats, allow it to come to a gentle simmer.
  3. Season It Up: Once simmering, add the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to distribute all the spices.
  4. Simmer & Thicken: Let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Cool Down: After simmering, remove the pan from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  6. Store: Transfer the sauce into a clean jar and refrigerate.

Notes

This sauce improves with time; consider making it a day ahead. It can also be used as a marinade for meats.
