- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds.
- Cook the ground meat in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Fill each bell pepper with the meat and cheese mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and cover with foil.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For a make-ahead meal, prepare the stuffing and fill the peppers a day in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
