- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Sauté onions and garlic until the onion softens and becomes translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Brown the beef, cooking until fully browned, about 6-8 minutes.
- Incorporate crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 20-30 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
- Serve with your favorite pasta, layer in lasagna, or use as a dip for nachos.
Notes
This sauce tastes even better when made ahead of time. Allow it to rest overnight for deeper flavors.
