Description

A hearty and flavorful meat sauce perfect for pasta, lasagna, or nachos, made with ground beef, tomatoes, and aromatic herbs.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Sauté onions and garlic until the onion softens and becomes translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Brown the beef, cooking until fully browned, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. Incorporate crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer the sauce for 20-30 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve with your favorite pasta, layer in lasagna, or use as a dip for nachos.

Notes

This sauce tastes even better when made ahead of time. Allow it to rest overnight for deeper flavors.
