Description

A comforting cherry pie with a buttery crust and sweet-tart filling that evokes nostalgic memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the cherry pie filling, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl.
  3. Pour this cherry mixture into the pre-made pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
  5. Cover with a second pie crust and seal the edges by crimping.
  6. Cut several slits on top to allow steam to escape.
  7. Brush the top with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
  9. Let the pie cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting.

Notes

You can prepare the filling a day in advance. Adjust baking time if using an air fryer.
