Description

A delicious and comforting breakfast casserole made with buttery croissants, savory sausage, and a rich cheesy custard, all topped with a decadent drizzle of gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup gravy (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish generously. Scatter the torn croissant pieces evenly at the bottom.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until combined and slightly frothy.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the croissant pieces, ensuring each piece absorbs the creamy goodness.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese and crumbled sausage or bacon evenly over the top.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
  7. Remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center has set.
  9. Serve warm, with a drizzle of gravy if desired.

Notes

Use day-old croissants for better absorption. Consider customizing with vegetables or different proteins.
