Description

Indulge in these overnight cinnamon rolls, featuring a soft and fluffy texture with gooey cinnamon and brown sugar filling. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Create the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until a rough dough forms. Knead gently on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Let it rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and set it in a warm spot. Allow it to rise for about 60 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  3. Shape the rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush the surface generously with melted butter, then sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly over the buttered dough.
  4. Roll and slice: Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
  5. Prepare for overnight rest: Grease your baking dish and arrange the sliced rolls inside, placing them close together. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Bake in the morning: After your beauty sleep, allow the rolls to rise for an additional 30 minutes at room temperature. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until they become golden brown.
  7. Prepare the glaze: While the rolls cool slightly, mix powdered sugar, cream cheese, and milk in a bowl until smooth. Drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Make-Ahead Tips: They can be prepared and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Adjust baking time if using an air fryer.
