Description

Classic American Salisbury Steak with golden-brown patties, pan-seared and served in a luscious mushroom gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix until just blended and shape into oval patties.
  2. Sear the patties in a heated skillet with butter for about 4 minutes on each side until browned. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Sauté the sliced mushrooms in the same skillet until softened and golden, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Make the gravy by sprinkling flour over the mushrooms and whisking in the beef broth gradually. Cook until thickened.
  5. Simmer the patties in the gravy for about 20 minutes, ensuring they cook through.
  6. Serve the Salisbury Steak hot with gravy, paired with your favorite sides.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare patties a day in advance. Cooking alternatives: Air fry or bake for a quicker method.
