- 4–6 Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled and sliced)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for dotting)
- 1 egg (beaten with a tablespoon of water for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Mix the sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch in a large bowl.
- Roll out your pie crust until it fits comfortably in your pie dish.
- Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture and drizzle salted caramel sauce over the top.
- Dot with butter atop the filling.
- Top with a second pie crust, sealing the edges and cutting slits for steam.
- Glaze the top crust with egg wash.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
- Cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a twist, substitute apples with pears or add a splash of vanilla extract. Blind bake the crust to prevent sogginess.
