- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Incorporate the melted butter and buttermilk until just combined—do not over mix.
- Pour the dough into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then remove.
- Whisk in 1/4 cup of flour to the grease, then slowly pour in the milk while stirring until thickened.
- Add the sausage back in and season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the gravy over the biscuit dough in the baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
