Description

Delightful and fluffy biscuits enveloped in rich and creamy sausage gravy, perfect for cozy breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Incorporate the melted butter and buttermilk until just combined—do not over mix.
  4. Pour the dough into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then remove.
  6. Whisk in 1/4 cup of flour to the grease, then slowly pour in the milk while stirring until thickened.
  7. Add the sausage back in and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Pour the gravy over the biscuit dough in the baking dish.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For make-ahead options, prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate. Bake fresh in the morning.
