Description

A warm, comforting slow cooker apple butter made from a blend of sweet and tart apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of lemon juice.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 pounds of apples (Fuji, Gala, or Cortland)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker.
  2. Mix together thoroughly, coating the apples with sugar.
  3. Cover and set your slow cooker to low, cooking for 8-10 hours.
  4. Blend the mixture using an immersion blender or potato masher to your desired consistency.
  5. Cook uncovered on low for an additional hour to thicken.
  6. Cool before transferring to jars for storage.

Notes

For optimal flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples. Store in airtight glass jars; it keeps well in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks.
