Instructions
- Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
- Pour in the warm water and olive oil; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each into bagels.
- Bring water to a gentle boil in a large pot and boil the bagels for about 30 seconds on each side.
- Mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
- Remove the bagels from the boiling water, let cool, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using freshly grated nutmeg in the dough. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
