Description

Delightfully soft and sweet sugar cookies, perfect for sharing and celebrating life’s little joys. Crispy on the edges, fluffy in the center, with a hint of vanilla and almond flavors.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and white sugar in a large mixing bowl until smooth and light.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, then roll each ball in sugar.
  7. Place the coated balls onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them out.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  9. Cool the cookies on wire racks.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider substituting half the butter with unsweetened applesauce or Greek yogurt. Dough can be prepared a day in advance and chilled before baking.
