- 1/4 cup heavy cream (for buttercream)
- 1 teaspoon almond extract (for buttercream)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the almond extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes.
- For the buttercream, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth, then add heavy cream and almond extract and beat until fluffy.
- Spread buttercream between the layers once the cakes are completely cooled, frost the top and sides.
