Description

A soft and fluffy cake infused with almond flavor, perfect for celebrations or cozy afternoons.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for buttercream)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened, for buttercream)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (for buttercream)
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (for buttercream)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the almond extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes.
  8. For the buttercream, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth, then add heavy cream and almond extract and beat until fluffy.
  9. Spread buttercream between the layers once the cakes are completely cooled, frost the top and sides.
